ESM'2003 is the latest in the European Simulation Multi-conference series. It is to be held in the historical city of Nottingham and will address the state of the art issues in modelling and simulation. For several years, ESM has proved to be an outstanding forum for researchers involved in developing innovative simulation systems and tools on both the research and applications fronts. The SCS European Simulation Multi-conference features an outstanding technical program ranging from introductory tutorials to software reviews to state-of-the-art research and practice. The conference will includes exhibits, business meetings for professional societies, software user groups, and a social program.

All submissions will be peer reviewed by three members of the International Program Committee. Accepted papers will be published in the conference Proceedings (both print and CD), which will be copyrighted and widely disseminated. Submitted draft papers should not exceed 6 pages and must follow the normal full paper format,- submissions based on abstracts only will not be considered. Contributions to the technical program are solicited in the following general areas:

Other Activities of the conference will cover:

Tutorials, Poster Sessions, Student Sessions and Partner's for Projects Sessions and Exhibition.

Nottingham, UK

In Conjunction with
The 17th EUROPEAN SIMULATION MULTICONFERENCE
(ESM 2003)

(Extended Submission Deadline: February 28, 2003)

Invitation:

You are cordially invited to participate in and attend the 2003 High Performance and Large Scale Computing track to be held in Nottingham, the United Kingdom, June 9-11, 2003 in conjunction with the 17th European Simulation Multi conference (ESM 2003). The track is to address, explore and exchange information on the state-of-the-art in high performance and large scale computing systems, their modeling and simulation, design and use, and their impact. Participation is extended to researchers, designers, educators and interested parties in all related disciplines and specialties.

Purpose:

The track will include invited presentations from experts from academia, industry, and government as well as contributed paper presentations describing original work on the current state of research in HPC technologies and systems and related issues.

Topics include (but are not limited to):

·         Efficient Modeling and Simulation Algorithms and Computer-intensive Simulation Projects on High-performance Large Scale Computers and Distributed Platforms

·         Methods and Techniques for Parallel Computation (e.g., partitioning, mapping and scheduling, routing, synchronization, load balancing, …)

·         Performance of Parallel and Distributed Computing Systems (experimental and comparative studies, performance models, benchmarking, instrumentation and monitoring, …)

·         High Level Architecture (HLA) and Related Standards (time management, model semantics, implementation issues, …)

·         High Performance and Storage Area Networks

·         Parallelization of Simulation (numerical methods, Quasi-Monte-Carlo simulation, …)

·         Web-based Distributed Simulation (distributed modelling via the Web, Java based, Federated, and so on)

·         Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing (wireless, mobile, wearable, invisible, …)

·         Soft Computing (Neural, Fuzzy, Genetic, etc.)

·         Autonomic Computing

·         Quantum Computing

·         Autonomous Computing

·         Context-aware Computing

·         High Performance and Large Scale Collaborative Environments and Enterprises

·         System Integration with High Performance

·         High Performance and Large Scale Systems for Computational Science (biological, chemical, physical, etc.)

·         Cluster, Multicluster, and Grid Computing (Message Passing, Distributed Shared Memory, grid data exchange and storage, grid resource management, grid Informatics, etc.)

·         Middleware and System Services and Support

·         High Performance Mobile and Wireless Computing and Networking

·         Application of Parallel and Distributed Simulation (computer systems, manufacturing systems, etc.)

Submission of Papers:

Papers reporting original and unpublished research results on above and related HPC topics are solicited. Submission should include, on the cover page, authors names, affiliations, addresses, fax and phone numbers, and email addresses. Please indicate clearly the corresponding author. Include up to 6 keywords from the above list and an abstract of no more than 300 words. Please submit an electronic copy of your full manuscript (not to exceed 15 double-spaced pages including figures, tables, and references) to track Program Chair: Waleed W. Smari, Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Dayton, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469-0226, USA, Voice: (937) 229-2795, Fax: (937) 229-4529, Email: Waleed.Smari@notes.udayton.edu.

Electronic submissions will be accepted in PDF format (preferred), sent to the email above. The subject of the email must be “HPC 2003.” Consistent with standard practice, each submitted paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Initial selection will be based on full papers. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted. All accepted papers in the track are expected to be presented and will be included in the conference proceedings.

For information or questions about track’s paper submission, please contact Waleed W. Smari at above address. For information about the track in general, please contact the track General Chair Helen Karatza, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, karatza@csd.auth.gr.
